Charleston, S.C. writer and archivist. Born in 1878, she was the daughter of Augustine T. Smythe (1842-1914) and Louisa McCord Smythe (1845-1928). In 1902 she married writer and artist John Bennett (1865-1956), a native of Chillicothe, Ohio who made his home in Charleston, S.C. Susan Smythe Bennett authored numerous articles on the genealogy of South Carolina families.
